Franciska Legát (1997, Budapest, Hungary) is a Budapest-based photographer. In 2024, she graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts with a Master of Photography. She spent a semester in Germany at the HSBI Bielefeld and in the Netherlands at HKU, Utrecht. After finishing her studies, she spent her traineeship in Berlin, working on her ongoing project "Melancholy of Freedom".
As an artist, she is primarily concerned with social issues that have a significant impact on her life. Absurdity and a kind of peculiar black humor play an important role in her works. Her photos are mostly staged, but by using an unusual documentary approach, her purpose is to blur the line between fiction and reality.
